Trading & Procurement

Supply & Risk

Specialized inventory procurement and synchronized financial hedging across every product grade in the NY Harbor.

Product Coverage

Every grade. Every market.

SVE is a leading procurement team for a multitude of physical fuel products with the technical skills and technology to maintain synchronized financial hedges on all inventory under management.

Developed over its long history, SVE maintains strong relationships with supply partners including major refiners, global trading companies, and integrated brokerages active in the distillates market. The team focuses on a range of heating oil and on-road diesel grades in several cash-markets — providing reliable supply in all market conditions. SVE's expertise spans ULSD, #2 heating oil, and blended grades including R10 and R20 ULSHO mandated by NYC regulations.

SVE has an extensive history in residual fuels dating back to its earliest origins. At that time, SVE was the largest city-spec #6 Oil distributor in the New York Harbor — demonstrating unparalleled knowledge of viable blend-stocks and trade partners. Currently, the group remains active in the city-spec #4 Oil market and leverages its years of residual chemistry expertise to source quality fuel while delivering beyond-market value.

As a major participant in the New York City heating oil market — which is legislatively mandated to include renewable product on a percentage basis in each gallon of fuel — SVE actively engages domestic and global biodiesel and renewable diesel markets. This involvement ranges from relationships with domestic producers to large commodity trading firms. SVE has been an early adopter in aggressively marketing renewable products, realizing the importance of the initiative and understanding the improvement in fuel quality as feedstock sourcing and processing protocols have matured. SVE's mission is to keep all physical products under its management hedged at all times when possible — in aim of the avoidance of market risk deteriorating its core business's margin. To achieve this mission, the group's experienced traders utilize an array of physical and financial strategies depending on market conditions. The team boasts tested internal procedures and in-house developed tools — including extensive forecasting models and inventory shaping models — to mitigate undue risk. Above all, SVE maintains a proven track record of over 30 years for being a reliable and trustworthy partner in reducing inventory risk.
